Jill Haley is an oboist, English Horn player, pianist and composer who visits National Parks, often as an Artist in Residence, and composes music about the park while living there. She feels that each park gives her a “gift,” that leads to a group of pieces. She has released 12 recordings of National Park music highlighting places such as Glacier, Acadia, Zion and Bryce, and many others. 

Jill regularly shares the music with accompanying video of the images that inspired the music in venues such as music festivals, universities, National Parks and Carnegie Hall. In the past few years, Jill has begun having arrangements done of some of her work for solo oboe and English horn with orchestra. These arrangements have been performed with the York Symphony, Berks Sinfonietta, and the Providence Chamber Orchestra. Albany Records released Jill’s first orchestral recording of several of these pieces on “Pastoral Reflections”. 

Quietude- Music for Shenandoah National Park, is her most recent solo release and will be premiered at the Miller Center. The program will open with a solo set by guitarist, David Cullen, and be followed by the music of Quietude performed on piano by Sue McDevitt, guitarist David Cullen, and Jill on oboe & English horn. Video will accompany this performance of the places and images in the park that inspired the compositions.
